Whether you are brand new to the church thing or you’ve been around church for a while, we want to say welcome! Our goal at Elizabeth River Baptist Church is to create environments and experiences where you can encounter God in the midst of your life. When you visit with us at Elizabeth River Baptist Church our aim is that you would be inspired by the music, encouraged by the message, welcomed by our amazing community of people & be reminded that God’s grace is here!
WHAT’S IT LIKE?
COME AS YOU ARE.
We want you to feel at home. You are welcome in this place. We tell everyone to come as you are. While we want to be respectful of the place of worship that we gather in, we also want to be sensitive to all those who may need prayer, food, encouragement or a place to call home. So please come as you are and experience the awesome presence of Jesus.
The Power of a Simple Gift!
Operation Christmas Child returns! Elizabeth River Baptist Church is partnering with Samaritan’s Purse to pack shoeboxes for kids all around the world. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, which brings Good News and great joy to children around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes. It is a tangible way to share God’s love and the good news of Jesus Christ to children in need worldwide!
Why Should You Help:
We especially need your help this year! Children and families who in poorer countries simply do not have the resources we do here in the U.S. If each Elizabeth River family could commit to at lease one shoebox, we can make a big difference and help bless many kids.
Gift Suggestions: A list is available online.
Pray: Most importantly, “pray without ceasing” (1 Thess. 5:17) for the child who will receive your shoebox gift.
Please also prayer for:
- Their family to also be receptive to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
- The pastor of the church who delivers your shoebox gift.
- Their community to be transformed by the Gospel.
A donation of $10 per box is critical to cover evangelism materials, shipping, and other project costs.
Deadline to return your filled boxes is Sunday, November 9, 2025
Join Us For Our ANNUAL Thanksgiving Turkey DRIVE
**Bring a Turkey to Church on Sunday**
Although it may seem early, Thanksgiving should be on our planning calendars. When you see a “turkey sale,” consider buying one or two (smaller sizes are better than larger ones) to help those in need have a better Thanksgiving. This year, our donated turkeys will assist with the Food Ministry at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Norfolk, where they will be distributed to families in need.
**Collection Dates:** – October 26 – November 2 – November 9
The turkeys will be delivered to Cornerstone Baptist Church on November 12. We have freezer space available in the W.M.U. kitchen for your donations. Thank you for your support!
Join us for a delicious breakfast and Bible study each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The worship service begins at 11:00 a.m. with a blend of traditional and modern music.
Celebrate The Star: Hope, Love, Joy and Peace
This season, you and your friends, family, and neighbors are invited to an unforgettable Christmas celebration.
Everyone in the community is invited to attend Elizabeth River Baptist Churchfor a four-week series based on the Advent themes of Hope, Love, Joy and Peace called The Star: A Journey to Christmas, starting Sunday, November 30 at 11:00 am.
Over two thousand years ago, a star burst through the darkness and signaled the long-awaited, yet still unexpected birth of a Savior. Elizabeth River Baptist Church believes Christmas can still truly give us a taste of the most wonderful time of world history. The true light came into the darkness and stress and pain of the world—our world. That world then, just like our world now, including our lives, needs the light to illuminate, clarify, guide, and heal. This is the journey of following the star to Christmas—and beyond!
In a season often marked by frenzied busyness, Advent is an opportunity to set aside time to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. The relevant messages in this series are designed to help us place our focus on a far greater story than our own—the story of God’s redeeming love for our world.
